Shayla McGill

Shayla McGill is a proud Aboriginal artist of Yidinji and Mbarbrun heritage from the Northern Territory, with her lineage carried through her mother’s side. With the blessing of her Elders, she continues the important tradition of storytelling through her art and has been given Aboriginal names from both tribes.
Her work reflects a deep connection to culture, Country, and identity. Each piece tells a story—honouring her heritage while expressing it through a contemporary artistic lens. Shayla’s art is a personal journey, capturing the richness and significance of her cultural background.
